Come out on Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. to hear Martyrs Rock, a great way to start the week.  The band plays current Christian tunes and the preaching is fun and full of spiritual revelation!

Lots of Christmas carols have been played and sung during the past few weeks.  It is now 2010, I wonder where this year will lead?

Now that all the Concerts, Christmas programs, musicals, cantatas, special songs, learning new Christmas songs and the Living Nativities have been performed, I feel that I am ready for a rest.  In between all this excitement, I made  a short trip to Missouri before Christmas to visit my mom.  We went on a rode trip to visit family in St. Louis and then celebrated Christmas early.

I got delayed at the Memphis airport for several hours due to a bad windshield wiper being replaced on the plane.  This windshield wiper must have been hard to find, I finally got in bed on Christmas Eve morning at 5 a.m. (Originally scheduled to be home by 11:00 p.m.)

This year I had the opportunity to share Christmas songs with my many students who study  voice, piano, guitar, drums, clarinet or bass guitar.  I believe in Christmas songs!  I think playing these songs year after year will improve a student's sight reading and ear skills.  This year I am proud of all my students who played Christmas songs during this wonderful season.

I also had the privelege of working with Altamonte Springs Elementary's "North Pole Exposure."  Mrs. Knowles always directs a great show and I have enjoyed helping her with vocal coaching and sound since 1997.  It is always a delight to see how the children learn their line, learn the songs and then when the costumes, lights and sound come together with a room full of parents, the kids SHINE.  Great show Altamonte!

My most precious show this year was one that I wrote for St. Stephens Presbyterian Pre School.  There is no greater joy than seeing young children celebrate the baby Jesus!  The show was the story of Christmas narrative with shepherds, magi, angels, a star, a baby, Joseph and Mary and many Israelites watching as the Messiah comes alive in the story.  It is especially rewarding when the parents write notes and send gifts and say they cried through the entire show; this is when one has reached success!

I had fun singing with choir in this cantata, normally I am stuck at the piano!

My Christmas season was fun this year, I sang many special Christmas favorites, I performed more times than I can count at the moment.  It is an awesome feeling to be finished with a year!  It is even more exciting to see what is ahead!  Always exciting to be at Disney this time of year, I guess I will wait until it warms up here in Orlando before heading out to use my tickets.

Happy New Year and remember:  "music is for life!"

My message for you... Are you searching for a better way of discerning God’s will? Do you have a big decision looming and wish God would just pick up the phone and tell you what to do?

In my own life, I used the common methods taught by many of today’s biggest names for knowing God’s will. But the more I used them, the more questions I had.

If God is in charge, does that mean He orchestrates my every move? If I’m to pray “according to His will,” how can I know what that is so I can pray? Am I the only person not hearing from God? How will I know God’s voice from the many others vying for my attention?   If you feel I’ve just been describing you, then I invite you to join me on a journey - a journey through the many questions you and I have.

Where am I to go for answers when the Scriptures don’t fully address my situation? If God created everything, why did he allow evil to exist? How can I believe in a God who would allow this much pain and suffering in the world? The Christian life is so hard for me, and it seems to be so easy for others- perhaps I’m not spiritual enough or worthy enough to get the break-through others have. Is there something wrong with me? In seeking answers I discovered six questions that have helped me weed through the many options available in my life, helping me to make wise and godly decisions.

Is this aligned with the character of God? Is there an obstacle or opposition? Is it God-sized? Is this requiring steps of faith? Is this stretching, growing, and strengthening me? Is this requiring me to adjust, prune, and realign my life? Direction shares the journey I took to a new understanding of knowing God’s will. Through this six-question process, you will learn how to make decisions more confidently, pray more openly, take risks more frequently, and know God more intimately than you’ve ever believed possible.

So welcome! Poke around on this site. Read the Testimonies of people who’ve used my six-question God’s Way method of discernment, order your own book and workbook. Then sign up for my e-zine. I want to stay in contact with you. God is at work in your life and in mine; my story and yours is a part of His story and we won’t see the whole story unless we learn to listen to each other.

Listening,
Cheri

"Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain."

Jubal's Band performed at the Westminster Assisted Living in Orlando on June 13.  We had a great time with the residents and look forward to returning there in the near future!

JubalsPlace PIANO LESSONS visited Arden Court on June 9 to offer some of the Altzheimer residents a short piano lesson and an invigorating piano recital by some of Jill's students.  Some of the pieces performed were by Tchaikovsky, THE ENTERTAINER by Scott Joplin and other piano composers.  We also did the HOKEY POKEY and had fun with the residents putting their arms up and feet out.  Thanks to Vi and Pam for allowing us to share our music at Arden Court!
